Description
Dum dum dee dum dum...
UPDATE: resized and retouched a little more... it looks so much better in real life. XP
APOLOGIES: Sorry about the quality and the weirdish colors. I hate that my scanner isn't big enough, so I had to take a picture of it and try to adjust the colors to what they really look like. Someday I will upload the one, you know, with the right colors and everything?
BACKGROUND: Dude, I haven't done a colored pencil portrait in 3 years. SPONTANEITY. I HAZ IT.
ABOUT THE PROGRESS:
Huzzah for good Robert Downey Jr. picture references.
Although, contrary to popular opinion, Entertainment Weekly, which I got the picture from, is not found in any stores when people who need their issues due to their temporary lack of color printer look for them. I had to do some guesswork when it came to color since I was going off of my computer screen.
Bah, at least it was HQ.
MORAL OF THE STORY: Some of you may know of my travails following my last attempt at RDJ that turned out horribly after FOR-ev-ER, because my patience had been far gone at the time: [link]
However, for some reason, I had insurmountable patience to make up for it with this one. I realized I failed at that one because I just wanted it finished.
Yay for relearning how to enjoy the journey!
Patience is a lot like a journey...
A very frustrating and then rewarding journey... that goes down these sketchy back roads that seem to lead to nowhere, and then you're like, "oh, this is actually a shortcut that I had no idea about" and you appreciate the whole thing a lot more when you're done...
EXTRA TIDBITS:
11"x14" bristol, Prismacolor pencils, 22 hours.
Title taken from one of his songs, of which what I've heard he's quite a good singer. I recommend looking him up when he was on Ally McBeal: "River" is like my favorite un-Christmasy Christmas song, written by Joni Mitchell, but I like his voice on it better.
